Equipment Description.

Thermal shrinkage and expansion testers can accurately measure information on the expansion and contraction of various materials (e.g. ceramics, glass and building materials) during heat treatment. Especially in the case of ceramic materials, the loss of binder sintering, the sintering behaviour and the influence of additives during sintering during the production process can be measured by the Thermal Expansion Tester. Thermal expansion meters can also be used in the development of glazes.
By testing the thermal expansion and shrinkage coefficients together with the glass transition temperature, changes in the glass can be quickly and easily understood. In many cases, it is important to ensure that different glasses in contact with each other have similar thermal expansion behaviour to avoid stress concentrations and cracking. Thermal expansion and contraction testers are able to obtain information about changes in the dimensions of the sample, such as expansion, contraction and volume changes.
